My Degree(s)

Elementary Education & MBA (D'Youville)

My Hobbies

I play Scrabble with my husband every evening to keep our brains sharp! I love bird watching and have several feeders within view of my dining room window. We are also auction junkies and sell our extras on Craigslist or eBay. My favorite thing is to visit with my granddaughter, who is growing up so fast! I also love learning and actually miss doing my homework and research now that I've completed my degree!

What I Love about D'Youville

I graduated from D'Youville TWICE and love many things about the school. Number One is the great education I received from the professors I encountered as a student here in the 70's and again while earning my MBA. They know who you are and care about your success. The location is great to get to so many things to do in Buffalo. We are minutes from Niagara Falls, malls, fabulous beaches, skiing, museums, parks, the Buffalo Zoo, the theatre district, Elmwood Village, professional sports arenas, fabulous festivals and so much more!

My Advice

START EARLY! Being a transfer student is similar to being a senior in high school. Don't wait until the last minute. Look at several schools to find out where YOU fit. Utilize the transfer counselors at your current college AND your future college. They are valuable resources available to keep you on track with class choices. Campus visits, Facebook, college websites and information links as well as old fashioned phone calls are all there to help you decipher the process and help you narrow down your choices! Come to a Transfer Student Information Session to learn more about D'Youville!

What I Love about D'Youville

Warm, comfortable campus; caring students; faculty and staff. Surrounded by beautiful architecture in the City of Buffalo and only blocks away from Lake Erie and the Niagara River.

My Advice

Don't shy away from visiting private colleges because of tuition without checking into scholarship and financial aid information first. For nursing students – go for your bachelor of science in nursing right away – check out our direct entry program with 7 out of 8 nursing semesters!

My Degree

My Hobbies

Trying new foods, traveling to new places, and reading feminist literature.

What I Love about D'Youville

D'Youville is located on Buffalo's West Side and I love how the institution is so invested in the area. The West Side is so beautiful and filled with culture and diversity. I know how much D'Youville understands its duty to take care of their city and their local community. It's awesome to watch as so many new things take shape in order to improve our students' academic experiences  and the overwhelming community as well.

My Advice

Don't be afraid to try new things, meet new people, and explore life outside of your classes! Yes, academics are most important BUT college is the time to discover who you are and to decide who you want to be. You learn so much about yourself through lived experiences.

My Hobbies

What I Love about D'Youville

I love the students here. I've watched our student ambassadors become amazing young professionals full of enthusiasm and motivation, and it never gets old.

My Advice

Talk to current students at every institution you visit and ask questions about their individual experiences. Try sitting in the dining hall or student union and start observing the students around you. If they look like they're enjoying themselves, and you feel completely comfortable hanging around, chances are the school is worth some further investigation.

What I Love about D'Youville

I love D’Youville’s focus on service and community. Our majors emphasize the concept of giving back, helping others and making the world a better, more productive place. The culture here nurtures and empowers students to be forces of positive change within their communities.

My Advice

Ask for help! We all need others to support us at different times in our lives and college is one of those times. D'Youville is a community of students, staff, and faculty who are here to support you in reaching your goals. You should never have to figure out something alone and you’ll never regret asking for help.
