Doing business in today’s international marketplace requires the ability to be able to reach across time zones, languages, and national borders in order to engage with customers, suppliers and partners from different cultures, experiences, and perspectives.

It requires the ability to think on your feet, manage complex details, lead teams, identify core issues, develop creative solutions to complex problems, and deploy those solutions in an international context. In the world of international business “business unusual” is “business as usual.”

If you’re interested in participating in the global marketplace, a combined bachelor's and master's degree in International Business from D’Youville may be your passport to future success. As a student in our program, you’ll acquire the skills and knowledge you’ll need to succeed in the global marketplace.

D'Youville's IACBE-accredited combines cutting-edge business theory and practical knowledge taught by faculty with real-world experience and real-life, hands-on experience acquired during fieldwork at one or more international businesses located in the region and around the world.

  • Participating in faculty-led trips to visit overseas businesses;
  • Researching and recommending solutions for real-world international business challenges; and
  • Participating in faculty-mentored research projects.

Automatic Merit-Based Scholarship Consideration

When you apply for admission at D’Youville, we’ll automatically consider you for our merit scholarships. Undergraduate scholarships can cover as much as 50% of your tuition, and there is no need to fill out a separate application!

Transfer students can qualify for scholarships, as well. And unlike other schools, maintaining your scholarship is easier at D'Youville because we use a realistic 2.25 GPA requirement to determine your eligibility for merit-based scholarships each year.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

At D'Youville, we are committed to selecting students who are academically well-rounded and committed to meeting the challenges of a high-quality education. If you have been successful in a traditional college preparatory program in high school, you should be well-prepared for the academic challenges at D'Youville. While we don't require you to submit ACT or SAT test scores, if you have taken or intend to take a standardized test we encourage you to submit your scores if you'd like them to be evaluated as part of your application.

First Time in College Freshman Requirements:

  • Submitted application for admission
  • Official high school transcripts
    • An overall weighted GPA of 85 with successful completion of high school graduation requirements and three years of math, history, english, and science.

Not Required (utilized in a holistic review for admission if provided):

  • Standardized SAT/ACT test scores
  • Admissions essay
  • Letters of recommendation

Transfer Admission Required Review Criteria:

  • Submitted application for admission

Internships

Internships

While the theories and knowledge you learn in the classroom are an essential part of your international business education, if you’re going to work in the global marketplace you need to get out into the global marketplace. Not only will you be able to put your learning into practice, but you’ll be able to build relationships, explore career options, and feel the pulse of international business by being immersed in it.  And, because fieldwork is a required component of your international business degree, you’ll earn academic credit as well.

Requirements

All International Business students must earn a minimum of three to nine credit hours (90-180 work hours) of on-the–job fieldwork experience at an international business setting/environment in the US or abroad. The total number of credits required for graduation vary depending on each students’ prior professional or internship experience, so please check with your academic advisor about how many fieldwork credits you’ll need in order to earn your degree.

  • Assist with designing educational materials and marketing collateral for annual fundraising events

  • Assist companies to initiate or to expand their exports through trade mission and trade show planning while targeting key economic sectors for support

Internships are offered by many divisions within the company, including, but not limited to, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and Human Resources. These unique opportunities provide project-based work that requires teamwork, ingenuity and creativity, as well as tactical responsibilities that expose the intern first-hand to the experiences of a full-time employee.

The interns learn the complexities of the department to which they are assigned, spend time with senior level executives, attend "Meet & Eat" presentations and seminars, and enhance their understanding of the company's various operations.
