West Buffalo Charter School Adds Robert Gamble to Board of Directors
Buffalo, New York – November 13, 2017 – D'Youville's Dr. Robert Gamble, professor of Education, recently accepted a position on the West Buffalo Charter School’s Board of Directors.
The West Buffalo Charter School has been expanding in the past few years to accommodate the growing refugee and immigrant
population, adding to the culture and heritage of the city's diverse, multicultural
West Side where D'Youville has long acted as an anchor for higher education.
“I am honored to be a member of such a progressive school board, and I hope my background
in early childhood and elementary education will help in continuing to move the school
forward,” said Gamble. Gamble previously served on the Board of Directors at Community Charter School.
Gamble has extensive experience with West Buffalo Charter School, writing a grant
and implementing a kindergarten tennis program, working with novice first-grade teachers including D’Youville students, and extensively
volunteering at the school.
Before joining D'Youville faculty 27 years ago, Gamble taught kindergarten, fourth-grade,
and was director of The Hamburg Nursery School. Gamble holds a PhD in Early Childhood
Education.
West Buffalo Charter School opened in 2012 with children in grades kindergarten through
second grade. The school currently holds classes through fifth grade. A $6 million
project is currently underway and will expand the school to eighth grade by 2019.
