A Traveling Tribute to Veterans
Veterans and members of the public came to Front Park to view the American Veteran Traveling Tribute Vietnam Memorial Wall.
Buffalo, New York – June 1, 2017 – Over 100 participants joined with the D’Youville College Student Veterans of America at the sixth annual Western New York Laps for Limbs event on April 30, 2017. Participants walked, ran, and rolled through Front Park, and despite stormy conditions the event raised over three times the amount ever donated at past Laps for Limbs events.
This year’s event began with the opening of the American Veteran Traveling Tribute Vietnam Memorial Wall and continued through a Grit 'N Wit obstacle course, a charity dinner, and the running
of the Laps of Limbs.
“I want to thank all those who donated their time and their resources to make this
event a success,” said D’Youville College SVA President Ryan Hill-Falkenthal, “Watching
everyone come out to run – regardless of the rain, hearing the kind words from everyone
who visited Front Park throughout our time there, or seeing fellow veterans stare
respectfully at the traveling memorial wall, reminded us of what a great community
we have and what your support means to us all.”
Laps for Limbs is an ability-focused, community organization that raises funds and awareness for
local children and veterans with amputations. The inaugural Laps for Limbs took place
in 2012 in Hamburg, NY, and, to date, the event has raised over $73,000 and participants
have run over 1,000 miles at the events.
The recipients of this years donations are Camp No Limits and a Korean War veteran in need of a prosthesis following amputation – each will
receive $10,000.
