Big Data & Healthcare Analytics Panel to Be Held March 30th
Buffalo, New York – March 2, 2016 – D’Youville College will sponsor a special panel made up of health care professionals to discuss careers in the new and growing field of Healthcare Analytics on Wednesday, March 30.
Titled “Big Data & Healthcare Analytics” the panel will discuss the growing need for individuals who can analyze large sets of data and then communicate the meaning of the results.
Participants will include Christopher Keaton, Director of Information & Analytical Advancement at HealthNow New York; Michele Mercer, Clinical Integration Officer at Millennium Collaborative Care; and Chandni Sud, Network Performance Manager at Independent Health. The moderator will be Dr. Lisa Rafalson, assistant professor and chair of the Health Services Administration Department at D’Youville.
The Department developed the area’s first health care analytics program last year to meet the need in the field for trained professionals in the ever changing health care industry.
“It’s a rigorous program but also a program that will lead to well-paying jobs. It has a lot of skill sets and it’s transferable to many other setting outside of health care,” said Rafalson who with Dr. Marion Olivieri, professor of chemistry and chair of the Biology & Math Department at the college, developed the program. “It offers a new opportunity for students who want to be in a dynamic field, but don’t want patient contact.”
The event starts at 4:30 p.m. in Madonna Hall, corner of Porter and Fargo Avenues, and is free and open to the public.
