Free Wellness Clinics to be Provided by Pharmacy & Dietetics Students
The clinics will be held at West Side Community Services Center on Oct. 30 and Nov. 6
Buffalo, New York – October 9, 2015 – Students from the D’Youville College School of Pharmacy will conduct a Wellness Clinic in collaboration with students from the Dietetics Department on Friday, October 30 and Friday November 6 at the West Side Community Services Center, 161 Vermont Street in Buffalo.
West Side Community Services improves education, health & wellness, and financial capability for members of the area community.
The pharmacy students will distribute pill minders and brochures highlighting food and drug interactions. They will also assess individual blood pressure readings.
Dietetic students will have three tables set up with information on nutrition, salt/sodium in foods, information on canned foods and lowering sodium content, tasting of unsalted pretzels and spices, and a recipe demonstration of a three-bean salad made with low sodium drained and rinsed canned vegetables. Information will be in both English and Spanish.
The clinic will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days.
They are free and open to the public.
