DYC Nursing Student Awarded NYLPRW Scholarship
The New York League of Puerto Rican Women will honor Nayrobi Alexandra Pichardo-Pena, a junior, with a $1k scholarship award.
Buffalo, New York – July 24, 2015 – Nayrobi Alexandra Pichardo-Pena, who is entering her junior year in nursing BSN program at D’Youville College, was selected for a $1K College Scholarship Award by the New York League of Puerto Rican Women (NYLPRW).
The New York City based League will present her award at the College Awards Gala Dinner Dance on August 20 at the Marina Del Rey in Throgs Neck, NY.
The New York League of Puerto Rican Women, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting Puerto Rican and Hispanic women in their pursuit of higher education by providing them with the financial support necessary to complete their college degrees.
To qualify for the scholarship, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits, have maintained a 3.0 GPA, and be able to demonstrate a history of community involvement/service. “Our motto is: “Educate a woman and you educate a family,” said Dara Lustgarten, president of the NYLPRW.
Pichardo-Pena attended Community Health Academy of the Heights in New York City.
