5 Named to D'Youville Board of Trustees
John P. Amershadian, president, CEO and partner at Hodgson Russ Attorneys, to serve as chair.
Buffalo, New York – July 13, 2015 – D’Youville College has named five individuals to its Board of Trustees replacing members whose term has expired. Named to three year terms beginning this fall are:
Gretchen Fierle, senior vice president of marketing and communications at HealthNow New York, Inc. since 2010. Previously, she was vice president of communication and community relations at Independent Health for three years. She is a graduate of Bard College located in the Hudson River District of New York State.
Sister Jean Marie Liston, a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart and former Superior General/President of the Order serving from 1988 to 1998. She was also the principal of St. Rose of Lima School in Buffalo and later served as principal of Cathedra of Christ the King School in Atlanta. Prior to her retirement, she was Director of Pastoral Services at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Newtown, Pa. A graduate of D’Youville, she earned her master’s degree in mathematics education from the University at Buffalo.
Sister Mary T. McCarrick, OSF is diocesan director for Catholic Charities of Buffalo. She has served the Franciscan movement in numerous positions as a Sister of St. Francis. Sister Mary is the first woman religious to serve in her present position and is responsible for the Annual Appeal, mission integration, board development and social policy advocacy. She graduated from Rosary Hill College (now known as Daemen College) and holds a master’s degree in Franciscan Studies from St. Bonaventure and the Our Lady of the Lake University's Worden School of Social Service.
Stephen M. Mercurio is president of The McGuire Group. He served as vice president from 1992 to 2013 before being named president. Previously he was the Assistant Long Term Care Program Director at the NYS Department of Health. A nursing graduate of D’Youville, he holds a master’s degree in health care administration from the University at Buffalo.
Sam Pascia is global purchasing director at Vesuvius Refractories Canada, a global leader in molten metal flow engineering located in Welland, Ontario. He is the chair of the Committee of Adjustments for the Town of Fort Erie and attended Humber College and Brock University.
Current trustee, John P. Amershadian, president, CEO and partner at Hodgson Russ LLP, was named chair of the D'Youville Board of Trustees. A graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School, he joined the board in 2012.
D’Youville is a private college in Buffalo N.Y. and chartered by New York State in 1908. It currently enrolls approximately 3000 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students.
