Biology Student Receives D'Youville Medal
Joseph Colasuonno, a senior biology student and member of the Class of 2015, received DYC's highest student honor at the 56th Honors Convocation.
Buffalo, New York – March 24, 2015 – D’Youville College held its 56th Honors Convocation on Wednesday March 4, 2015 at Kleinhans Music Hall.
The convocation, which featured remarks from Brenda Williams McDuffie, president and CEO of Buffalo Urban League, honors and recognizes undergraduate and graduate students for outstanding achievement.
Sister Denise A. Roche, GNSH, D’Youville president, conferred the honors and awards including the college’s highest honor, the D’Youville Medal, awarded to Joseph Colasuonno, a senior biology student and member of the Class of 2015.
The Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart Medal, established in 2012, to recognize an outstanding graduate student, was awarded to Roli Bansal, an occupational therapy student.
The Saint Catherine of Alexandria Medal, awarded annually by Kappa Gamma Pit, a national college honor society, was awarded to James White, a Business Management/Pre-Law student. This award is conferred on a junior who has rendered outstanding service to the college or has established the best record for progressive achievement.
The Lee Conroy Higgins Award, presented by the D'Youville College Alumni Association and named after the late Mrs. Carl Higgins, former director of alumni relations, was awarded to Rebecca Mercuri, an occupational therapy major. The award recognizes a fourth-year student who is outstanding in concern for fellow students and support of and involvement in campus activities.
The Dr. J. Warren Perry Health & Human Services Leadership Scholarship was awarded to Stefanie A. Pawelek, a chiropractic student.
