D'Youville Debuts $5.5 million Athletic Field Complex
The field is now home to men’s and women’s soccer, softball and eventually lacrosse.
Buffalo, New York – September 29, 2014 – The Buffalo News reported that DYC officially opened its $5.5 million athletic field complex on September 27 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The story quotes President Denise A. Roche who called the complex, “a great addition to the West Side.” D’Youville plans to lease the field to other schools and community groups when it isn’t being used for college functions, and hopes to provide camps and clinics to West Side children.
Features of the athletic complex include: grandstand-style bleachers for softball, an athletic service building with locker rooms and showers and state-of-the-art LED scoreboards.
An anonymous gift of more than $2 million helped cover much of the cost of the field.
