DYC AAUP Chapter Names Dr. Catherine Lalonde 'Scholar of the Year'
Buffalo, New York – May 20, 2014 – The D’Youville chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) named Catherine L. Lalonde, Ph.D., the 2014 'Scholar of the Year' at a brief ceremony prior to the college’s 106th Commencement exercises on Saturday, May 17.
Dr. Lalonde is an assistant professor in D’Youville’s Department of Education and Director of Professional Programs.
She was cited for her extensive writings and scholarly presentations including peer reviewed articles, and book chapters. “In the first five months of 2014 alone she has four book chapters in press and has presented at two national conferences in two separate, but related fields,” her citation read.
A national and international speaker, Dr. Lalonde has been invited to speak and present at prestigious educational conferences worldwide including those held in London, England, Ontario, Canada and online to Barcelona, Spain. She is considered an expert on various aspects of teaching and education.
She has authored or coauthored nine publications and has four additional publications in press spanning three related but distinct research topics. She is also a professional reviewer for a number of publications.
Joining D’Youville in 2007, Dr. Lalonde chaired the Institutional Review Board and currently serves as coordinator for the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. She serves on the Strategic Planning Faculty Committee, is a member of the Middle States Working Group for Standard Two, and chairs the Education Unit Assessment Committee among her many campus involvements.
Dr. Lalonde received the Education Faculty of the Year Award in 2011.
She is a member of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the American Educational Research Association and their Studies Association and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
A cum laude English graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges she earned both her master’s degree in media studies/education and her doctorate in social and philosophical foundations of education at the University at Buffalo.
