D'Youville Will Host Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference
Buffalo, New York – May 07, 2014 – D’Youville College will host the two-day spring 2014 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) May 19-20 at their West Side campus.
The ten member institutions are NCAA Division III schools, dedicated to providing students with an intercollegiate athletics program that advances their education experience. The philosophy of NCAA III (non-athletic scholarship) is student-athlete centered.
The member schools are located in Western N.Y., Western Pennsylvania, and Eastern Ohio and include both private and public intuitions.
Sister Denise A. Roche, D’Youville president serves as chair of the AMCC President’s Council and Brian Cavanaugh, D’Youville athletic director, chairs the AMCC Administrative Management Council.
“The purpose of the annual spring meeting is to review all policy and procedures and to honor member schools for community service that student-athletes, teams and coaches have provided to their local communities as well as national organizations,” Cavanaugh said. AMCC Commissioner Donna Ledwin, a Nardin High School graduate, will present the President’s Cup and oversee the proceedings.
Athletic Directors will meet to discuss plans for the future and Sister Denise A. Roche, D’Youville president, will host a dinner for the presidents of member colleges on Monday evening, May 19 at the Buffalo Club.
“This is the first time D’Youville has hosted the Conference meetings and we are honored to have AMCC member institutions in Buffalo and on our campus for this important meeting that sets the tone for the AMCC Conference for the next year,” Cavanaugh said.
Member institutions in addition to D’Youville include Franciscan University, Hilbert College, La Roche College, Medaille College, Mt. Aloysius College, Penn State Behrend, Penn State Altoona, Pitt Bradford and Pitt Greensburg.
