DYC Students to be recognized at Honors Convocation
Buffalo, New York – February 10, 2014 – D’Youville College will hold its 55th annual Honors Convocation on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in the Mary Seaton Room of Kleinhans Music Hall (3 Symphony Circle) beginning at 2:00 p.m.
More than 600 students, family and friends are expected to attend the event honoring D’Youville students for their academic achievements.
Dennis C. Walczyk, chief executive officer of Catholic Charities of Buffalo, will be the speaker.
Catholic Charities of Buffalo is the most comprehensive human service provider in Western New York, reaching all eight counties with professionally staffed locations. The organization impacts the lives of approximately 138,000 individuals each year.
Walczyk oversees all program, service, fiscal and infrastructure operations and is responsible for strategic direction and planning.
He joined Catholic Charities in 1997 and previously was Executive Director of Crisis Services for 10 years.
A graduate of Canisius College he holds a master’s degree from Pennsylvania State University.
Sister Denise A. Roche, GNSH, college president, will confer the honors and awards including D’Youville’s highest honor, the D’Youville Medal. It is awarded to a student who not only is outstanding in academic achievement but also for outstanding character, service and loyalty to the college.
Students will be recognized for academic achievement including those qualifying for the Dean’s List, Lambda Sigma Honor Society, National Adult Honor Society, and scholarships from the Student Union and the Black Student Union.
