Physician Assistant Students Raise Money for Sierra Leone
Buffalo, New York – May 13, 2013 – D’Youville physician assistant students spent a Saturday afternoon hosting their 2nd annual pig roast in Front Park on Porter Avenue on May 4 to raise money for Jericho Road Global Health Outreach.
The not-for-profit organization on Buffalo's west side, provides healthcare to the poor. The Jericho Road Global Health Outreach program is assisting in meeting the tremendous medical needs in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
Approximately 85 people turned out for the fundraiser which was organized by the Physician Assistant Student Association.
Participants enjoyed food, lawn games, music with a live disc jockey from Dynamic Sound and a 50/50 raffle. A Kindle Fire HD was raffled and won by Billy Goode, a freshman PA student.
“It was a great turnout and our students worked hard to make it a success,” according to Amy Lux, club advisor and office manager in D’Youville’s Physician Assistant Department.
“They raised close to $1000 and the students plan to do it again next year.”
The Global Health Outreach program is a part of Jericho Road Ministries in Buffalo with locations on Barton Street, West Ferry and 14th Street.
