DYC to Host Friends of Night People Run on Apr.7
Buffalo, New York – March 18, 2013 – More than 300 racers are expected to participate in the 10th annual Putting Hunger on the Run 5K Fun Run & Walk, to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, Apr. 7 at Niagara and Vermont Streets in Buffalo. This year, D'Youville College is set to host the annual run, to benefit the Friends of Night People, a charitable organization that helps the poor, homeless and destitute.
Race registration fees support efforts of the Friends of the Night People to provide food, clothing, medical care, counseling and hope to those in need.
The 5K course is certified and sanctioned by USA Track & Field, a national organization governing track and field, running and race walking.
The run is open to beginner, intermediate & advanced runners & walkers, with awards given for overall winners and first place finishers in age and class categories. Other prizes include "oldest race shirt," "most race shirts," and "farthest away race shirt."
D'Youville welcomes teams of runners from various college schools and departments. Separate awards will be available for the first, second and third place winner of the team run.
Those interested in participating in the race should register by filling out a DYC application. Registrants not affiliated with D'Youville can call 884-5375 or email email@example.com or register online. Advanced registration is $20 or $15 for D'Youville students, faculty and staff. Race day registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at D'Youville's College Center.
A post race party featuring chili and cornbread will be held at the College Center.
