D'Youville to Honor Two Leaders in Health Care at Awards Dinner
Buffalo, New York – February 13, 2012 – D'Youville College will honor two local healthcare professionals at its 18th annual Achievement in Health Care Awards Dinner on Thursday, February 28 at Salvatore's Italian Gardens, 6461 Transit Road, Depew N.Y.
This year's honorees are Drs. Lawrence B. Bone, chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Medicine and Elad I. Levy, director of the Endovascular Stroke Service at Gates Vascular Institute.
Dr. Bone is also a surgeon at the Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) and an officer in the U.S. Army reserves, serving as chief of orthopedics in the 865th Combat Support Hospital at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. He volunteered to serve as a trauma surgeon in Afghanistan to help treat injured military personnel and will return to the war zone in February for another three-month assignment.
Dr. Levy is a member of the team of neurosurgeons responsible for bringing cutting-edge stroke treatment to the Vascular Institute, only one of ten in the nation providing this. He trains surgeons from around the U.S. in this new minimally invasive embolization lifesaving procedure.
He is a professor of neurosurgery and a professor of radiology at the University at Buffalo (UB) and on the staff of UB Neurosurgery, Inc., an academic group dedicated to education, patient care and research.
The awards dinner will start with a hospitality hour at 5:30 p.m. followed by the dinner and award ceremony.
