DYC students to be recognized at Honors Convocation
Buffalo, New York – February 1, 2013 – D'Youville College students will be honored for academic achievements at the 54th annual Honors Convocation on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Kleinhans Music Hall beginning at 2:00 p.m.
More than 600 undergraduate and graduate students, family and friends are expected to attend the event.
Andrew W. Dorn, Jr., chair of the D'Youville Board of Trustees and president of a private investment company, will be the convocation speaker.
Dorn is the founder and CEO of two financial institutions, Jamestown Savings Bank and the Greater Buffalo Savings Bank where he led the bank from a startup to a full service financial institution with $900 million in assets and 19 offices. The bank was sold in 2008. He serves on a number of boards, both corporate and nonprofit, and is active in the Western New York business and cultural community.
Dorn is a graduate of the University at Buffalo and earned an MBA from Canisius College.
Sister Denise A. Roche, GNSH, college president, will confer the honors and awards including D'Youville's highest honor, the D'Youville Medal. It is awarded to a student who not only is outstanding in academic achievement but also for outstanding character, service and loyalty to the college.
Students will be recognized for academic achievement including those qualifying for the Dean's List, Lambda Sigma Honor Society, National Adult Honor Society, and scholarships from the Student Union and the Black Student Union.
