DYC Pharmacy Receives National Accreditation

On Sunday May 18, the School of Pharmacy at D'Youville College held a graduation luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Buffalo, to honor the inaugural Class of 2014. 

 

DYC Pharmacy Receives National Accreditation

Buffalo, New York – July 3, 2014 – The D’Youville College School of Pharmacy has been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) the national agency for the accreditation of professional degree programs in pharmacy.

D’Youville’s program, started in 2010, had been awarded 'Candidate Status’ since June 2011, a normal procedure for new pharmacy programs.

“This accreditation action was taken in recognition of the progress made since the last accreditation review and with confidence that existing School and programmatic needs will continue to addressed in a timely manner and to the satisfaction of the ACPE Board of Directors,” the Chicago based Council stated in their approval letter.

The accreditation term extends until June 30, 2016, which is the customary two-year term for a new program receiving accreditation status.

“Approval of our program is a validation of the hard work of the faculty and staff,” said Dr. Gary P. Stoehr, dean of the D’Youville School of Pharmacy. “As our program evolves, we will continue to seek opportunities for partnerships that improve the quality of experiences for our students and faculty.”

D’Youville graduated its first class of 58 pharmacy students in May and today has a total of 270 enrolled students and approximately 30 faculty. The program is housed in a $20 million six-story building constructed in 2010.
