DYC Students to Participate in Health Fair at St. Mary's School
Buffalo, New York – April 16, 2014 – D'Youville students and faculty will join other local organizations and participate in the 4th Annual St. Mary's School for the Deaf Health Fair on Thursday, May 1 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the School.
D'Youville Pharmacy students and faculty will provide information about asthma and diabetes. Chiropractic interns will offer postural screening and tips that cover activities of daily living.
Fourteen community health students will work in pairs and create poster boards on a variety of subjects including asthma, HIV/AIDS, sun protection, and hand washing.
"Participating in the health fair at St. Mary's School for the Deaf gives the students an opportunity to interact with members of the deaf community, who are often overlooked in terms of healthcare," said Sharon Manning, clinical assistant professor in the School of nursing.
On April 22, Dr. Jane Schlau, principal at St. Mary's and Pamela Rohring, sign language educator, will provide an information session for D'Youville participants.
