Dietetics Alumna Earns Designation as Certified Diabetes Educator

Buffalo, New York – January 29, 2014 – The Niagara-Wheatfield Tribune reports that Mary Degnan, M.S., R.D., C.D.N., C.D.E., an alumna of D'Youville earned designation as a certified diabetes educator. Degnan currently serves as director of nutrition services at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She holds master's and bachelor's degrees in dietetics and nutrition from D'Youville College.

A certified diabetes educator is a health professional who understands and demonstrates comprehensive knowledge in pre-diabetes, diabetes prevention and diabetes management, and works directly with those impacted by the disease to achieve individualized behavioral and treatment goals that optimize health outcomes.
