Alumna Named PT Director of Hornell School District
Buffalo, New York – August 8, 2013 – Amber Linza, a member of D’Youville’s Class of 2011, was named Physical Therapy Director for the Hornell N.Y. City School District. The new position, and her appointment, were approved at the School Board meeting Monday, August 5, according to The Evening Tribune in Hornell.
Linza received a three-year probationary appointment as the PT director with the school board voting 4-0 in favor of the resolution.
Doug Wyant, Jr., superintendent said creating the physical therapy position allows the district to “kill two birds with one stone,” as Linza will work with students with disabilities and assist the district’s athletic director with Hornell’s interscholastic athletic programs.
The school district previously contracted with Jones Memorial Hospital of Wellsville for the services Linza will be providing to students with disabilities.
“It will be nice to see a doctor of physical therapy on staff,” Wyant said.
The district is attempting to generate a program that brings athletic trainer interns to work with Hornell athletes. If interns are brought on board, Linza would oversee them, Wyant said.
Linza is licensed by New York State and earned her doctorate in physical therapy at D’Youville. She is a graduate of Cuba-Rushford Middle High School.
