Lady Spartans Volunteer at Community Center
Buffalo, New York – February 4, 2013 – The D'Youville College Women's Basketball team volunteered their services at the Seneca Babcock Community Center on January 22. The community center, located in Buffalo, New York, provides a safe place for area children to do their homework, receive tutoring, participate in activities with their peers, and stay off the streets.
As part of the their volunteer service, the Lady Spartans spent their time assisting children with homework in subjects ranging from mathematics, science, and English. The team distributed snacks, played games, and engaged in arts and crafts with the children. D'Youville sophomore guard, Maria Rosati had a positive experience with her opportunity to help out. " I really enjoyed working with kids at the center. It makes me look forward to graduating and being able to help kids in the future." said Rosati.
The D'Youville Women's team plans on continuing their volunteer service at the center, and expand their efforts to other organizations in the community once the season is complete.
The D'Youville women's basketball program, takes on cross town rival, Medaille College on Wednesday February 6th at Medaille. Tip-Off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
