Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP)

HCOP is open to students regardless of their religion, race, color, national origin, gender, age or disability.

The Health Careers Opportunity Programs (HCOP) is a federally-funded recruitment, outreach and academic support program for disadvantaged high school and current college students interested in careers in healthcare.

Summer Enrichment Program

Admission to the Summer Enrichment Program is open to 25 high school students, who have completed their junior year and are interested in a healthcare profession. Students must meet HCOP eligibility requirements.

To Apply

The selection process includes:

  • 150 word essay addressing how you feel you would benefit from the program
  • Parental consent
  • Recommendations
  • Submit a completed application to the HCOP Office or via email to Cavina James.

All applicants will be interviewed prior to acceptance.

Pre-Matriculation Program

Admission to the Pre-Matriculation Program is open to 25 full-time D'Youville College students, who wish to matriculate into one of six health professions majors. Students must meet HCOP eligibility requirements.

To Apply

The selection process includes:

  • A 250-500 word essay describing your background, goals, and motivation to succeed in your academic program as well as how HCOP will help you achieve your health career goals.
  • Completed Reference Form including contact information for two people.
  • Submit a completed application to the HCOP Office or via email to Brooke Hopkins.

All applicants will be interviewed prior to acceptance.

Retention Program

Admission to the Retention Program is open to 25 full-time D'Youville College students, with a current major in one of six health professions majors. Students must meet HCOP eligibility requirements.

The selection process includes:

  • A 250-500 word essay describing your background, goals, and motivation to succeed in your academic program as well as how HCOP will help you achieve your health career goals.
  • Completed Reference Form including contact information for two people.
  • Submit a completed application to the HCOP Office or via email to Deanna Hamilton.

All applicants will be interviewed prior to acceptance.
