Biography

Dr. Waite joined D’Youville College School of Pharmacy as a clinical assistant professor in October 2009. As a board certified psychiatric pharmacist, she teaches student pharmacists the pharmacotherapeutics of agents used to treat psychiatric and neurologic disorders.  She also enjoys teaching a variety of other topics, including physical assessment skills.  

In addition to her in-class teaching responsibilities, she practices at Buffalo Psychiatric Center where she serves as a clinical psychiatric pharmacist and a preceptor for pharmacy students.

Dr. Waite previously practiced pharmacy in Baltimore where she served as secretary for the Statewide Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for the Mental Hygiene Administration in Maryland’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.  She served as the director of pharmacy and clinical pharmacist at the Walter P. Carter Center, a state-funded inpatient psychiatric facility for adults, and consulted as a clinical pharmacist at the Rosewood Center, a facility for adults with developmental disabilities.  She also served as the coordinator for the Clozapine Authorization and Monitoring Program, a statewide effort to ensure appropriate use and monitoring of clozapine in patients with mental illness in Maryland.   

As a faculty member at D’Youville College, Dr. Waite is chairperson of the School of Pharmacy’s Assessment Committee and serves on the school’s Academic Progression Committee and its Departmental Personnel Committee.  She contributes to the school’s efforts of self-assessment for the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) by serving as a team leader.  She is a member of the Faculty Committee for the D’Youville College Faculty Council.  She serves as a faculty advisor for the school’s chapter of Phi Delta Chi, a national professional pharmacy fraternity, and is a faculty liaison for the Western New York Society of Health-System Pharmacists (WNYSHP). 

Dr. Waite is a member of the College of Psychiatric & Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP), the New York State Council of Health-Systems Pharmacy (NYSCHP), and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). She has served on the Recertification Committee for CPNP and is the faculty liaison on behalf of the DYC School of Pharmacy for NYSCHP. 

Dr. Waite volunteers with the Lancaster-Depew Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and participates in several drug disposal programs throughout the year.

Research Interests

Dr. Waite’s practice centers around care of patients with mental illness, particularly schizophrenia and mood disorders, by optimizing their medication regimens.
