Biography

Dr. Tammie Lee Demler joined D'Youville College's School of Pharmacy as an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor in 2013. Tammie Lee Demler is the Director of Pharmacy Services for the Buffalo Psychiatric Center facility within the New York State Office of Mental Health. She additionally serves as the Program Director for the ASHP Accredited Post Doctoral (PGY1 and PGY2) Pharmacy Residency Programs at the University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Prior to her employment with the NYS Office of Mental Health, she served as a Pharmacy Supervisor for Univera Healthcare(formerly known as Health Care Plan). Dr.Demler is past President of the Pharmacists’ Society of the State of New York and President of the Pharmacists' Association of Western New York.

Having found her passion for media and community outreach, Dr Demler has been host of "WNY Tonight with Tammie Lee" for the last 8 years and has been featured as an expert guest on "Legislative Journal", “Albany Assembly Calendar", "PM Buffalo", as well as news updates and interviews on Channel 2, 4 and 7. She most recently was promoted to community affairs radio reporter for Cumulus Broadcast Company (97 Rock, 103 the edge, 104 WHTT).

In 2011 Dr. Demler received the American Pharmacists Association's National Immunization Partnership award and was named the recipient of the Mental Health Association of Niagara County's Community Service Award. In 2010, Demler earned the Distinguished Alumnae Award from The Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Rising Star. In 2009, she earned both the New York State Bowl of Hygeia, The American Society of Health System Pharmacy National Pharmacy Residency Excellence Award and The Orville C Baxter Pharmacy Practice Award from the University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She was most recently nominated as a candidate for the 2009 YWCA of Niagara County Award in the Community Service category. Additionally, she was awarded the Western New York’s 40 under Forty Award. In 2006 she received the National Community Pharmacists' Leadership Award, Professional Service Recognition-PSSNY, and the McKesson Pharmacy Leadership Award and 2004 New York State Senate Woman of Distinction recognition of her outstanding leadership and service to the pharmacy profession.
