Kirsten Butterfoss, PharmD

Dr. Butterfoss joined the Pharmacy Practice Department at D’Youville College as a clinical assistant professor in 2011. Her clinical practice site is Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarence, NY where she works with an interdisciplinary team to manage pharmacotherapy of older adults in the long-term care settings.  She serves on committees at her practice site and D’Youville College including the Interprofessional Education Committee and Experiential Education Committee.

Dr. Butterfoss is a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Rho Chi National Honor Society, and Phi Lambda Sigma National Pharmacy Leadership Society. She is a member and serves as the Upstate Director for the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. Dr. Butterfoss has participated on and precepted pharmacy students during seven medical service trips to Ecuador with the organization Timmy Global Health.  She serves as a faculty advisor to Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, and Timmy Global Health.

Education & Training

Research Interests

Research interests include interprofessional education, medication management in the older adult, and global health.  She currently collaborates with the Interprofessional Education Committee and has presented at 3 international conferences on simulation education.  

Dr. Butterfoss has precepted students on research project and activities including integrating students into the medication regimen review process at her clinical practice site and on several posters related to the medical mission trips in Ecuador.
