Personal Counseling Center
Offering a place and time for students to talk about any issues, difficulties or concerns they are experiencing in their personal life.
Our licensed mental health counselors are trained to assist students of any age who are struggling emotionally.
We will listen to your concerns and help you better understand yourself and your situation. Together, we will develop ways you can overcome obstacles that might be preventing you from achieving personal and/or professional satisfaction.
The center also offers numerous online resources. In addition, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner is available for individuals who may need psychotropic medications.
What to Expect
- Visits to the Personal Counseling Center are free of charge.
- The information you share with your counselor is confidential.
Please keep in mind the following legal and ethical limits to confidentiality:
- duty to warn and protect regarding threats to harm self or others
- court order from judge
- mandatory reporting for suspected child abuse/neglect
- mandatory reporting for suspected abuse, neglect, self-neglect and/or exploitation of vulnerable adults and the elderly.
Your contact with the Personal Counseling Center is not part of your academic record.

Make a confidential appointment by calling (716) 829-7819 or make an appointment online.
Evening appointments are available.
When you call, we will ask only for your name and phone number. A session is typically 50 minutes in length.
For after-hour mental health emergencies, please call Crisis Services' 24-hour hotline at (716) 834-3131.

The D'Youville College Health Center provides information, health counseling, and emergency treatment.
If you know a student who seems to be in trouble or may potentially harm themselves, report it to the Students of Concern Committee.
