2007-08 Season Preview
Six players from last season’s are joined by five newcomers to start the 2007-08 campaign. The team has plenty of guards that will set the speed and defensive tone of games, but are light on forwards, and the veteran players will be asked to shoulder much of the early season load. D’Youville will look to Rachel Placito (Greece, NY/Greece Olympia) and Christine Halter (Holley, NY/Kendall), the team’s top two scorers last season, along with Rachel Pagano-Fuller (Greece, NY/Greece Odyssey), Angel Clark (Lackawanna, NY/Lackawanna), and freshman Holly Beats (Marilla, NY/Iroquois) for offensive production. Jenny Carpenter (Portageville, NY/Letchworth) and Jonisha Scott (Buffalo, NY/Traditional) will provide the team with needed depth and experience.
This year's newcomers: Ellen Remillard (Peru, NY/Peru), Susanne Wieliczki (Northfield, VT/Northfield), Angela Rossi (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuser-Minoa), and Crischienda Owens (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) are athletic and ready when called to contribute
The Lady Spartans should again make a strong challenge for the NEAC title, but need to get the past the teams that dashed their quest the last two seasons: Keuka College (defeated DYC in the 2006 championship game) and Baptist Bible College (eliminated DYC in the NEAC quarterfinals last season on a 3-point buzzer beater).
