Spartans Defeated at Altoona
Altoona, PA (11/24/09)-The D'Youville men's basketball team lost at Penn State Altoona 85-60. Raysean Johnson (Buffalo, NY/Grover Cleveland) led the Spartans with 16 points.
The Spartan's travel to Washington D.C. for the Gallaudet University Tournament November 28-29. Saturday (Nov. 28) D'Youville will play their opening round game against Maryland Bible College.
Women's Basketball Has Strong Second-Half Showing at Altoona
Altoona, PA (11/24/09)-The D’Youville College women’s basketball team was defeated at AMCC opponent Penn State Altoona 71-56.
Melissa Kanalley (Tonawanda, NY/Cardinal O’Hara) scored a game-high 23 points and dished five assists. Holly Beats (Marilla, NY/Iroquois) added eight points and ten rebounds for D’Youville (0-2), 0-2 AMCC).
The Spartans had a strong second-half showing, scoring 40 points as team and shooting 60% from the field.
The next game for D’Youville is November 27th against St. John Fisher College. Start time for the first game of the St. John Fisher/Courtyard Marriott Classic is 6:00 p.m.
Taplin Gets First Win at D’Youville, Canahai Nets Career High in Rout of Paul Smith's
Buffalo, NY (11/22/09)-The last game of the ADPRO Sports Classic saw fourteen D’Youville players crack the score sheet in the Spartan’s 97-53 win over Paul Smith’s College.
Shane Canahai (North Tonawanda, NY/Starpoint) scored a career-high 22 points on 10 for 15 shooting. Raysean Johnson (Buffalo, NY/Grover Cleveland) scored 17 points and Danny Glover (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) added 10 for D’Youville (1-2).
The Spartan’s first win of the season was also the first career coaching victory for Glenn Taplin.
The next game for D’Youville is November 24th at AMCC opponent Penn State Altoona.
Second-Half Comeback Stops Spartans in ADPRO Classic
Buffalo, NY (11/20/09)-In Friday night’s ADPRO Sports Men’s Basketball Classic game played at Medaille College, Wells College erased a 10-point second-half deficit to defeat D’Youville College 69-59.
Raysean Johnson (Buffalo, NY/Grover Cleveland) scored a game-high 16 points and Greg Osika (Depew, NY/Depew) added 12 points for D’Youville (0-2).
The Spartans continue play in the ADPRO Classic when they host Paul Smith’s College Sunday (November 22) at noon.
Men's Basketball Ready For the ADPRO Sports Classic
Buffalo, NY (11/20/09)-The D'Youville College men's basketball team has two games in this weekend's ADPRO Sports Classic. The Spartans play tonight (November 20th) against Wells College. The contest will be played at Medaille College and tip-off is at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday (November 22) the Spartans play their first home game of the 2009-10 schedule when they face Paul Smith's College in the College Center Gym at noon.
Spartan's AMCC Debut Ends in Overtime
Bradford, PA (11/18/09)-Host Pitt-Bradford spoiled the AMCC debut of D’Youville College and first-year Head Coach Glenn Taplin. The Panthers won the season opener between both teams 67-60 in overtime.
Greg Osika (Depew, NY/Depew) scored a career-high 14 points and in his collegiate debut freshman center Patrick Coyle (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) added 12 points and 10 rebounds for D’Youville (0-1, 0-1 AMCC).
The next game for D’Youville will be against Wells College in the ADPRO Sports Classic, Friday November 20th at Medaille College. Start time is 7:00 p.m.
Career Night For Kanalley in Women's Basketball Season Opener
Bradford, PA (11/18/09)-Host Pitt-Bradford spoiled the AMCC debut of D’Youville College and first-year Head Coach Marisa Gallo. The Panthers won the season opener between both teams 81-70.
Melissa Kanalley (Tonawanda, NY/Cardinal O’Hara) had a career-high 30 points on 12 of 24 shooting from the floor, and Cierra Hawkins (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech) added 13 poins and eight rebounds for D’Youville (0-1, 0-1 AMCC).
The next game for the D’Youville women is November 24th at Penn State Altoona.
2009-10 Hoops Season Tips Off Tonight
Buffalo, NY (11/18/09)-The debut of two first-year coaches, and the first contest as members of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference take place tonight (November 18th). The men's and women's Spartan teams travel to AMCC opponent Pitt-Bradford. The women start at 6:00 p.m. with the men to follow at 8:00 p.m.
Marisa Gallo will be at the controls for the D'Youville women's team and Glenn Taplin will be guiding the men's squad as both will be coaching in their first collegiate contest.
Spartan Runners Compete at NCAA Regional
Mount Morris, NY (11/14/09)-Two D'Youville women's cross-country runners competed in the NCAA Atlantic Regional held Saturday at Letchworth State Park.
Annie Johnson (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) recorded a six-kilometer time of 25:03.8, good for 116th out of 239 competitors. Sara Baker (Youngstown, NY/Lewiston-Porter) was 150th with a time of 25:56.2.
