Ambassador Bridget D.
Exercise & Sports Studies/ Physical Therapy
Class of: 2018
Hometown: Williamsville, NY
I am involved in campus in various ways. My freshman year, I was a Senator at Large in Student Association, which is the student government club on campus. This involvement has been so much fun because I am aware of what is happening on campus and I have met a lot of people. I am currently involved in Student Association as a Junior Senator, and as Editor of the college newspaper, The Catalyst 2013-2014. I am excited to be a part of the Catalyst team, and I enjoy being able to influence solutions to improve the community. I am also a member of Lambda Sigma, a sophomore honors society focused on community service.
“I have found the small faculty to student ratio at DYC to be so beneficial. My professors know who I am and they are extremely helpful and encouraging.”
As a Student Ambassador I give tours to students and families interested in D'Youville and communicate with prospective students through the call center. I enjoy showing others the D'Youville I have come to know and love. I also participate in the peer tutoring program, tutoring Psychology, Chemistry, and Human Anatomy and Physiology. I feel great gratification in helping my peers to succeed in their challenging course work. I am inspired by my peers to make an impact here, and do more than the minimum.
I am not currently on any official sports teams, but I enjoy going to the yoga and zumba classes offered on campus as well as using the pool and fitness center.
My ultimate goal is to become a practicing Physical Therapist. I am interested in exploring aquatic therapy, and other alternatives to land based exercise. As a physical therapy student, I will have a lot of observation and clinical experiences, which can be almost anywhere in the United States. I can study abroad in Australia for my required internship for my Exercise Science undergraduate degree instead of staying in Buffalo. I love to travel, and I have heard positive feedback from returning students. I have found the small faculty to student ratio at DYC to be so beneficial. My professors know who I am and they are extremely helpful and encouraging. With the combination of all of the opportunities at DYC I feel that I will be prepared for my future career.
