Denise Harris, Director of Career and Professional Engagement
Denise M. Harris has over 16 years of higher education experience and is currently
the Director of Career and Professional Engagement Services at D’Youville College.
She oversees the comprehensive career development program for both the undergraduate
and graduate student population. Denise is a certified career counselor, qualified
to administer the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and an ATIXA trained Title IX Investigator.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in communication from SUNY Fredonia, and
her Master of Arts degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University.
Denise has presented at both regional and national conferences on topics which include,
creating a career oriented culture and finding work life balance. Denise has a passion
for continuous education and life-long learning and is member of WNYACCC, the Western
New York Association of College Career Centers, NACE, the National Association of
Colleges and Employers and NACADA, the National Academic Advising Association.
Career Coach Specialty
Denise is the liaison with the School of Pharmacy. She can assist with all career coaching appointments. She specializes in Interviewing Skills, Professional Networking and Business Etiquette.
Anna Cooke-Smith, Career Coach/Employer Relations Coordinator
Anna completed her B.S. degree in Education and Human Development at the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Buffalo and is currently a graduate student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration program at the same institution. A passion for learning, student success, mental health, and career development is why Anna enjoys working with college students. She has over 2 years working in higher education and has an extensive background in collaborating with community and student organizations, as well as Student Affairs professionals. Prior to her Student Affairs role, she has had five years of working experience in the medical field as a practice manager, event coordinator, medical assistant, and certified personal trainer.
In her spare time, Anna enjoys the company of her family which includes her parents, husband and children. Anna has learned to balance work, life, and school, with dedicated self-care.

Anna is the liaison for the school of arts, science, business and education. She specializes in interviewing preparation and portfolio development.
Jalen Wright, Career Coach/Student Outreach Coordinator
Jalen completed his Bachelors of Arts degree in Visual Arts and New Media with a concentration
in photography from SUNY Fredonia and is currently a graduate student in the Higher
Education and Student Affairs Administration program at SUNY Buffalo State. Jalen
has a passion for photography and has used that passion and talent to address some
of the issues that oppressed and marginalized communities on college campuses endure.
The self-started projects that Jalen completed made him realize how much he loves
supporting students and helping them through their problems. Jalen has over 3 years
of experience in residence life, as he has worked as a Resident Assistant and a Residence
Director. In his free time, Jalen enjoys playing basketball, boxing, street photography,
Jalen is the career coach for the School of Health Professions. He specializes in resumes, cover letters, taking professional headshots and creating your professional brand.
Daniel Liberg, Student Employment Coordinator
Daniel graduated from Penn State University in 2007 and has worked in higher education since then. In his current role as Student Employment Coordinator, he provides students and staff with support regarding the Student Employment Program as well as the Federal Work Study program. He is available for appointments regarding assistance with either of these programs, or applying for open positions on Purple Briefcase. Appointments can be made through Genbook.
Career Navigators are student assistants who have taken on a leadership role in the Office of Career & Professional Engagement. They have been trained in office services, particularly resume writing. They will meet with D’Youville students for 15-minute resume reviews during drop-in hours.

Career Aspirations: My long term goal is to have a career in physical therapy, but I am keeping my mind open to change as I am also interested in various fields pertaining to exercise and personal health such as athletic coaching, health coaching, and personal training. Also, as a musician, I plan to continue my pursuits as a singer/songwriter/producer with the goal of inspiring and positively impacting the world with my musical catalogue.
