I will be the first ever doctoral-level graduate in my family.
Due to the lack of physical therapy schools in Canada, and the volume of applicants, it is nearly impossible to become admitted in Ontario. D’Youville College has given me the opportunity to fulfill my career aspirations yet still stay relatively close to family, friends and still work in Canada.
I will be the first ever doctoral-level graduate in my family. I was raised in a divorced family with only one parent helping to partially cover the financial expenses of my education. Through hard work and scholarship, you can achieve academic goals regardless of your financial limitation.
When I missed two weeks of school when I lost my mother, all the faculty members were caring and understanding, and allowed me to complete missed tasks at my convenience, often changing their schedules to accommodate. I’d like to thank the DPT faculty for their kind words and encouragement during those tough family times.
My goal is to travel around southern USA while working in physical therapy clinics the year following graduation. I will be able to gain valuable work and life experience. A few years after graduation, my goal is to own and operate my own health and wellness clinic, where like-minded healthcare professionals can collaborate and work together under one roof.
