Welcome from the Chair

Dear Students,

My name is Dr. Lynn Rivers. I have had the pleasure of serving as a faculty member in the Physical Therapy Department since 1991 and Chairperson of the Department since 2003.

Students entering our program have the benefit of a full complement of 9 full-time faculty who are strongly grounded in the clinic, holding advanced APTA specialty certifications in pediatrics, orthopedics, neurology, geriatrics ,and cardiopulmonary physical therapy. In addition, all DPT students will have an opportunity to conduct community based research studies in such areas as falls prevention, childhood obesity and hippotherapy, or in an area of their choice.

Our PT program established the only college-endorsed hippotherapy program in the nation. Today, students assist with this skilled treatment intervention, using horses to treat children with neurological, physical, emotional and cognitive disability. Students have the opportunity to volunteer or conduct research with the children who receive therapy through Lothlorien TRC Therapy Services.

Our PT program has a thriving student club which connects all students with each other and the faculty with times of socialization, recreation and community service events.

Graduates of our DPT program will have conducted research, had an opportunity to provide community service in physical therapy and will have received an excellent education by faculty who continue to work in the clinic and maintain advanced clinical practice credentials.
