Early Assurance Programs

At D'Youville College, incoming freshmen can earn a doctoral degree in pharmacy (PharmD) in as little as six years through the Pre-Pharmacy (Early Assurance) Programs.

As a Pre-Pharmacy student, you'll take a foundation of courses to prepare you for the professional phase of the program. You apply for direct entry into the professional phase in your sophomore year.

D'Youville offers 2 pathways to earn a earn a PharmD degree, based on your high school average and test scores.

Early Assurance: Incoming Freshmen who meet admissions criteria

If you're an incoming freshmen who meets the School of Pharmacy's admissions criteria, you can gain direct entry into our competitive professional program in your sophomore year, as long as you maintain academic standards.

Admissions Criteria

  • Matriculate to D'Youville as a freshman student
  • Top 15% of your graduating class or an unweighted average of 90% (math, science, social studies/history, English, foreign language)
  • Score 1150 or greater on the SAT (Mathematics and Critical Reading) or 25 on the ACT

How to Maintain Eligibility

  • Complete all prerequisite courses, earning a grade of B or better (without repeating a course)
  • Maintain an overall 3.0 or greater GPA
  • Score a composite 65% on the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT)
  • Complete a satisfactory pre-admissions interview

Earned Early Assurance: Incoming Freshmen who don't initially meet admissions criteria

If you're an incoming freshman who does not meet the initial Early Assurance admissions criteria, you may be eligible for a reserved spot in the PharmD program based on the grades you earn during your first years at D'Youville.

Admissions Criteria

  • Matriculate to D'Youville as a freshman student
  • Receive a B or better in Pre-Pharmacy prerequisite courses taken in your freshman year.
  • Maintain a 3.0 or greater overall GPA during your freshman year
