Application Process

Physician Assistant Combined BS/MS Degree

Be sure to review the admission criteria for the Physician Assistant Combined degree program before applying.

Freshman Applicants for Physician Assistant

Physician Assistant applications must be completed and submitted by December 1.

  • Create an account in our application portal (if you don't already have one). Once you create your account, complete our online application.
  • Forward one official copy of your high school transcript.
  • Forward SAT and/or ACT scores. Contact your school counselor for assistance, or contact the ACT/SAT testing organizations directly.
  • Complete the physician assistant application essay and provide 3 personal references (both are available in the application portal after you submit your application).
  • Applicants to the Physician Assistant program are required to complete at least 80 hours of direct patient interaction. You'll need to have your supervisor submit the verification form for this requirement. Note: The form is available in the application portal after you submit your application.

Supplemental Materials

The supplemental materials are available to applicants during the online application process. Freshman applicants will find these materials in the D'Youville online application.

  • Provide official documentation of at least 80 hours of direct patient contact hours either through volunteer activities or employment activities
  • Write an essay of 750 words.
  • Three reference forms, one of the three references should come from a healthcare provider or professional (i.e., a physician, RN, PA, etc.) who has observed the candidate in a healthcare setting (either volunteer or employed)

Transfer Applicants for Physician Assistant

Physician Assistant applications for Transfer Students must be completed and submitted by November 1.

  • Transfer applicants to the physician assistant program must use the CASPA application. NOTE: Do not complete the D'Youville College online application.
  • Submit transcripts for all previous college credits, including courses in progress to CASPA.
  • Letters of recommendation and an essay are required and must be completed within the CASPA application.
  • Applicants to the Physician Assistant program are required to complete at least 80 hours of direct patient interaction. You'll need to have your supervisor submit the verification form for this requirement through CASPA.
  • If selected to advance in our application process, applicants must complete an on-campus interview with faculty, students and preceptors in the D'Youville College Physician Assistant Department.
  • Prior to enrollment, you may be asked to provide proof of high school graduation or equivalent.

Application Deadlines

For fall admission, all requirements must be received and completed by:

  • November 1 for transfer applicants.
  • December 1 for freshman applicants.

Applicants are encouraged to apply earlier to receive fullest consideration.

Interview

Following review of application materials, select applicants are invited for an interview by PA department faculty and practicing physician assistants. Only applications completed by the deadline will be considered for an interview. Interviews are typically conducted in late fall.

Decision

Admission decisions are mailed out within 3-4 weeks following an on-campus interview.
