I hope to teach biology, chemistry and computers at the high school level, and would also like to coach sports.
My goal is to leave DYC a better place. I was in the Boy Scouts for years and part of the outdoor code is to leave the places you pass through better than when you arrived. I try to bring that philosophy into other aspects of my life.
The small size of D'Youville allows more people to get involved and take on leadership positions. I am currently serving as the president of the Student Association and as a campus tour guide. I have also been president of the Ski Club, served as yearbook co-editor, been active in campus ministry and worked in Residence Life. I have been involved in all of the Day of Caring events including the community clean-ups, and attended both years of the Alternative Spring Break. We worked with the poor and homeless, and cleaned up a camp for inner-city kids—a place for them to leave their gang "turfs" and get together on neutral ground.
When looking at colleges, I wanted a school with a strong science program. I knew DYC had one because both my mother and a cousin had attended in the nursing program. From there, it was a matter of comparing the scholarships I was offered. D'Youville by far offered me the best with the Honors scholarship, which took off half of my tuition.
I hope to teach biology, chemistry and computers at the high school level, and would also like to coach sports.
