Foreign Languages Program
The Mission of the program in Foreign Languages at D’Youville College is to foster an appreciation for the different languages and cultures of the world and the possibilities they offer intellectually, socially, and professionally. Through active learning, the foreign language curriculum engages students to communicate effectively, think critically, and work collaboratively.
We seek to broaden the students’ horizons and cultivate a respect for cultural diversity as we prepare them for their respective professions, travel and study abroad, and engaging in an increasingly diverse society.
The foreign language program aligns with the College’s mission of service and the Undergraduate Core Curriculum goals of communication and world culture. Courses from the beginner to the advanced levels are also guided by the national standards known as the five C’s: Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Community.
