D’Youville College offers a bachelor of arts in English. Students
may choose between a concentration in literature or writing.
An English major has the opportunity to study and enjoy the classics of British, American and world literature, to master expository writing, and to learn to write and publish creative fiction, poetry and drama. Our courses focus on close reading of texts, the study of particular authors and their works, and the study of critical and cultural theories about literature.
As an English major you'll learn the skills to prepare you for a wide variety of employment fields, making you among the most sought after of the liberal arts graduates.
Minors in English and in written communication are available to students in other majors at D’Youville. A written communications minor helps establish invaluable skills for a professional career.
