Skills Assessment

The Skills Assessment Inventory is an exam for incoming students that assesses proficiency and skill levels.

All incoming freshmen and undergraduate transfer students must complete the Skills Assessment Inventory (SAI) administered by the Learning Center before registering for classes. You’ll be given a maximum of three hours to complete the SAI.

There are four sections:

  • reading (including vocabulary and reading comprehension)
  • written essay
  • math
  • chemistry

Registration

Pre-registration is required. Please contact the Connections office at (716) 829-7766 to register for your SAI and academic advisement appointment.

Your Scores

Your SAI test will be evaluated by specialists in the Learning Center and your scores will be shared with your academic advisor, who will help you select and register for appropriate classes.
