The Health Services department offers a bachelor of science degree in health services and a master of science degree in health services administration.
The Health Services program provides a strong liberal arts and science background for undergraduate students who wish to enter the health services job market upon graduation. It also prepares you for graduate studies in physical therapy, health services administration, and related areas.
The graduate Health Services Administration (HSA) program is for those planning
careers as health policy analysts, program planners and evaluators, and health
services researchers and managers. The HSA program prepares you to excel in decision-making
skills, critical thinking, and small group communications.
Several advanced certificates are offered for graduates of health services and other disciplines who are interested in furthering specific knowledge areas. Certificates in health services, improving performance and long-term care administration.
Curriculum Information
Bachelor of Science Program
The curriculum emphasizes a firm base of liberal arts and a common body of knowledge about health services.
The program's first two years are primarily devoted to the study of the arts, humanities and sciences (which meet the requirements of the college's baccalaureate degree) and other prerequisites specified by the program curriculum.
The final semesters provide a comprehensive base in health related knowledge and concepts.
Master of Science Program
For the master of science degree, the program of study in Health Sciences Administration (HSA) is 42 credits. Through its core courses, electives and internship, this program prepares students for responsible positions in the health care field.
Core courses give students a solid knowledge of management practice and develop an understanding of the interactions between management, financial analyses and strategic management of health systems.
Electives provide further exploration and mastery of topics of personal interest. These may include health services consulting, aging in America, and management in extended care facilities.
