I always had a passion for athletics and fitness and wanted a career in Sports Management.
I majored in a dual degree bachelor's program at D'Youville, in Exercise and Sports Studies and Business Management. This program prepared me for my career today as Head Coach of the Women's Basketball Program and Athletics Administrator here at DYC.
In my position as head coach, my responsibilities include recruiting and developing players, game-coaching, managing practices, team camps, travel arrangements and fundraising. I also scout opponents, manage our budget and team community service projects. As an administrator for the Athletics program at DYC, I handle athletics promotions, contracts, scheduling and logistics for all 14 NCAA sports at D'Youville.
As a student in the ESS/Business Management program, you pick up on the vibe and energy from the professors. Because of that, I I really looked forward to my classes in athletic training, sports management, sociology of sports, and even principles of management. The amount of enthusiasm and expertise from faculty members kept me enthralled with my classes and always looking forward to learning more.
I was named an emerging leader in my undergraduate academic program, which showed me that the hard work I was putting in was paying off and that my professors recognized my efforts and truly believed in me and my abilities. I was a really active student on campus, which helped me form lifelong relationships and hone my time management skills. I interned in the DYC Athletics Department which helped me learn about daily operations and how to deal one-on-one with coaches, personnel and student athletes. After I graduated from DYC I was proud to be accepted into graduate school at California University of Pennsylvania and earn my Master's in Sports Management with a concentration in Intercollegiate Sports Administration.
The things that I appreciate about working at DYC are some of the same things I appreciated when I was a student. The friendly atmosphere here on campus and the supportive faculty and staff make it a great environment. At DYC, we offer a support system and the tools to help our students succeed!
