Choosing Education

Why Choose a Career in Education?

School teachers play a vital role in a child's development. Early experiences and learning will shape children's views of themselves and the world. Grade school and middle school teachers typically instruct one class of children in all subject areas. As a secondary school teacher, you'll expose your students to more information about the world and themselves. Prospective high school teachers specialize in a specific subject such as Biology, English, History, or Mathematics and are required to complete a 30-36 credit concentration in that subject. If you choose special education, you may choose to work in the preschool, elementary or secondary level. You'll be responsible for designing and modifying instruction that meets the needs of students with a variety of disabilities.
