With a busy family and full-time job, the ADVANCE program offered the best schedule for my needs.
I currently work as the Deputy Town Clerk for the Town of Cheektowaga. Our office acts as the central hub for almost all activities associated with the town and therefore we are a direct contact for the public. In my position, I use managerial skills every day.
I decided to pursue my business management degree because I realized it will give me an opportunity to advance myself and afford me a competitive edge in my career, alongside younger graduates.
With a busy family and full-time work schedule, I can only attend classes one or maybe two nights a week. I chose the ADVANCE program because it offered the best schedule for my needs. The faculty and staff at D'Youville were always available to answer any questions; they made the transition from work to student that much easier.
I took a huge leap of faith in myself, in earning my degree. I was always a "B" student in high school and never gave myself much credit for being more. Many years later, I know it can be done. I'm proud to say I'm was on the Dean's List and graduated in May 2012.
